The secure fax alternative: Fast & intuitive to use.
Transmit sensitive content in a GDPR-compliant, secure, and automated manner – with the modern fax replacement for efficient, legally compliant, and future-proof business communication.

The days of the fax are numbered: The number of organisations that are no longer reachable by fax is increasing everywhere. In Austria, the legislature has even put a legal stop to faxing health data by abolishing the legal fax exception (so-called fax ban). This is a long overdue development, as fax is insecure and, due to technical changes, no longer meets the requirements for data protection and data security. In addition, the predominantly manual processes are inefficient. The FTAPI platform offers a GDPR-compliant, secure, and largely automatable alternative to the fax.
Security and automation from a single source. Your route from insecure fax to paperless and GDPR-compliant communication.
Legally compliant thanks to the highest security standards
As a fax alternative, FTAPI ensures the highest security standards through encrypted data transmission and is therefore also suitable for personal data (GDPR) or other sensitive information, such as communication between authorities and citizens, between healthcare providers or with patients.

Easy integration and automation
FTAPI can be easily integrated into existing IT systems, including practice and clinic systems, and enables secure and automated processing of incoming data and documents. Existing fax numbers can be retained - incoming faxes are simply digitised and processed securely. Thanks to FTAPI SecuFlows automated processing of data from online forms is also possible.

Ideal for government agencies and the healthcare system.
The FTAPI Platform and its products offer a secure, efficient and future-oriented solution for fax replacement in companies, government agencies and medical facilities. By combining digitalisation, automation, and easy integration, FTAPI helps these organisations smoothly transition from insecure faxing to paperless and GDPR-compliant communication. Encryption is carried out without complicated certificates or complex infrastructures and combines ease of use with robust security features. Sensitive data, e.g. on patients or citizens, can thus be transmitted without the uncertainties and complications associated with faxing and S/MIME.
Saves time and money
Not only do you save money on fax machines, maintenance and consumables, but you also reduce the number of manual tasks and thus save time and money.
Compliance & security
Thanks to encrypted content transmission, you reduce IT security risks and avoid data breaches and potential fines.
Simple & user-friendly
Simple registration and identity verification as well as intuitive operation enable quick access for your users and minimise training requirements.

Frequently asked questions about fax alternatives.
The amendment to the Austrian Health Telematics Act, which came into force in January 2025, leads to a decisive change: The use of fax machines will be banned in hospitals and medical facilities in Austria.
A fax machine no longer sends data over telephone lines, but over the Internet. This means that the transmission path is no longer end-to-end encrypted. Faxes sent digitally then land directly in the recipient’s email inbox. On the one hand, this is practical because it can be easily forwarded from there; on the other hand, this fact becomes a risk if the information is forwarded unencrypted. As soon as sensitive, personal data are included, the inadequate protection of the fax violates the GDPR.
To use S/MIME, both the sender and the receiver need digital certificates and a suitable infrastructure. This means that both parties must invest time and resources to ensure that communication is actually secure. Furthermore, the process of managing and renewing these certificates can be cumbersome and time-consuming, further complicating the acceptance and use of this technology.
This is where FTAPI comes into play – a user-friendly solution that is ideal as a simple fax alternative for the secure exchange of health data. The FTAPI platform allows users to transfer files easily and securely without the need for complicated certificates or complex infrastructure. The platform combines ease of use with robust security features that offer end-to-end encryption, thus ensuring comprehensive data protection, unlike an insecure fax.
Modern fax alternatives such as FTAPI offer a variety of advantages over traditional fax machines. In addition to significantly increased data security through end-to-end encryption, FTAPI also boasts an intuitive user interface that makes the exchange of health data efficient and user-friendly. In addition, FTAPI can be used regardless of location, as data transfer is digital and no physical fax infrastructure is required. This not only reduces operating costs but also significantly simplifies administration.
Violations of the fax ban in the Austrian healthcare system can have serious consequences. Since this is a legal requirement under the Health Telematics Act, non-compliance will not only result in warnings but also heavy fines. In addition, improper handling of sensitive patient data can be considered a violation of the GDPR, which can result in additional fines. This affects not only the institutions themselves, but also the persons responsible for data protection.
